Why Mindset Matters
I’m Eslana. And I’ve believed for a long time that how we live matters.
Long before life gave me a reason to truly test that belief, I was intentional about the way I wanted to live and parent.
Conscious parenting. Being present. Choosing connection. Living now rather than waiting for someday.
Not perfectly. Not because I had life figured out.
But because I understood that our lives are being lived in the ordinary moments while we're busy making plans for everything that's coming next.
Then, in 2022, the unimaginable happened.
My 15-year-old daughter, Rylee, died by suicide.
Nothing prepares you for that kind of loss. Or for the grief, trauma and devastation that follows it.
But what I came to understand in the months and years afterwards was that the way I had chosen to live before Rylee died mattered enormously in the way I was able to navigate life after she died.
I didn't suddenly discover the importance of living in the present because of loss.
Loss showed me just how important it had been all along.
The connection we'd prioritised mattered.
The memories we'd made mattered.
The things we'd said while we had the opportunity to say them mattered.
And the mindset I'd spent years developing didn't make grief easier or take the pain away — but it gave me foundations to come back to when almost everything else felt impossible.
It taught me something else too.
A fulfilling life isn't a life untouched by hard things.
It's a life in which we learn how to meet what comes without losing ourselves entirely inside it.
A life where grief and joy can coexist.
Where gratitude doesn't mean pretending everything is okay.
Where resilience isn't about bouncing back.
Where wanting more doesn't mean we're ungrateful for what we already have.
And where we understand that while we cannot control everything that happens to us, we have far more influence over the way we live than we sometimes realise.
That is the work I do now.
I'm an author, speaker, Resilience Mindset Coach, Registered Nurse and Midwife, educator and podcast host — but at the heart of all of it is a desire to help people become more conscious participants in their own lives.
To get out of autopilot.
To question the stories, patterns and expectations they've been living by.
To reconnect with what actually matters to them.
To recognise what is within their power to influence.
And to stop postponing the life they want to be living.
Because you shouldn't have to experience unimaginable loss to realise that this is your life.
You don't need to wait until something falls apart to become more present.
You don't need permission to want more.
And you don't need perfect circumstances before you start intentionally creating a life that feels meaningful, connected and genuinely yours.
That's Why Mindset Matters.
It's why I created The GRACE Method™.
It's why I created The More Life List™.
It's why I teach intentional living, resilience, mindset and manifestation.
And it's why so much of what I share comes back to one simple idea:
All we ever really have is now.
So while we're here, let's not just add more days to our lives.
Let's put more life into the days we are actually living.
